Beautycounter Round-Up: My Tried and True Favorites

Jun 22, 2020

It’s no secret Beautycounter is where my love for clean beauty began almost 5 years ago. It’s also no secret that over the last 3 years, I’ve branched out to try other clean beauty products. But there are a few Beautycounter products that stand out above all else in my eyes. And they will always have a place in my bathroom cupboard.

So without further ado, here it is: a list of my tried-and-true Beautycounter favorites. And as a bonus, you’ll also find a quick-pick list of other fan-favorite products. And two ways to save when it comes to Beautycounter.

*Psst! Did you know you can now buy Beautycounter at Sephora! Hola!*

1. Countertime

My skincare secret.. except it’s not really a secret

Confession. I did not have high hopes for this line. How’s that for an opening, eh?? But it’s the truth. I was never impressed with Beautycounter’s original anti-aging line. So I dragged my feet when it came to trying this one. And because I am cheap (when I want to be) I ordered a $15 sample pack first, assuming I would really only be in it for the cleansing oil.

The joke was on me! It was all love at first try. I couldn’t get over how smooth and hydrated my skin looked just after a few days of using the line. Needless to say, I bought the regimen a few months later. And I have’t turned back. It’s what you’ll find in our bathroom cupboard, and it’s what I use daily. Or at least when I remember.

Beautycounter's Countertime Collection: Cleansing Oil, Essence, Serum, Day Cream, Night Cream and Eye Cream

What Is It?

An anti-aging skincare line that uses a retinol-like ingredient called Bakuchiol. You get the retinol benefits, without the sun sensitivity, potential skin irritation and other not-so-fun side-effects.

My Experience:

-Purchased the regimen, but I really don’t use the night cream. Mainly because the day cream is quicker to use than the night cream (pump vs twist off lid) and I find the day cream provides plenty of moisturizing benefits.
-All the products last a long time. I’ve had my regime for 3 months and have barely made a dent in the supply
-The Essence and Serum provide the most noticeable difference in my skin texture– and they are crowd favorites, too.
-I really like the cleansing oil because it doesn’t strip the skin and it leaves the faintest amount of oil behind. Something my typically dry skin appreciates.

What You Oughta Know:

-You can purchase the items individually at retail value. Or you can purchase the regimen (does not include the eye cream) or the collection at a 10% savings.
-Even though it might seem overwhelming, having a 4-5 step skin care routine does not take a lot of time. And is really worth it in the long run.

2. Counter+ All Bright C Serum

Sunspots, be gone!

Bought this bad-boy 2 months ago to help fight against pesky summertime sunspots. Not only has it kept them away, but my skin looks even more refreshed than when I was just using Countertime products. Who knew that could be possible? And the few sunspots that I had from last summer are going away, too. Wins all around!

What Is It?

A vitamin-C serum that uses a 10% blend (aka it’s powerful stuff) of two forms of vitamin C. It also has turmeric, which helps even skin tone and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and Camu Camu Fruit Extract, an antioxidant that helps reduce the appearance of dark spots while brightening.

My Experience:

-It’s magic in a bottle. *insert mic drop.*

What You Oughta Know:

-If you are wondering where to add it in your routine, follow product consistency by going from thinest to thickest. So in my case it would be cleanser, essence, serum, vitamin c, moisturizer.
-You’ll likely smell the turmeric when you go to apply. But the scent disappears in the same amount of time as it takes you to notice it.

3. Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer

My morning multi-tasker.

Gives me that finished glow with minimal effort, while also providing SPF-20 coverage.

Beautycounter's Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer

What is It?

A tinted moisturizer with sunscreen and skin-firming goodies. Some refer to it as a BB cream.

My Experience:

– After trying a few different tinted moisturizers, this one has become my favorite for everyday wear.
-I layer it over my day cream… for no good reason really. Old habits die hard I guess??
-I find it blends in easier that other tinted sunscreens/moisturizers I’ve tried in the past.
-For reference, I use Light (previously named No. 2)

What You Oughta Know:

-If you are going for a more natural look, this one fits the bill beautifully. But if you are looking for medium to high coverage foundation, then I would consider something like Skin Twin Featherweight Foundation instead.
– You can layer this under or in combination with a more traditional foundation, like Twin Skin or Tint Skin.

4. Counter+ Charcoal Mask

Bye-bye, oily t-zone!

This guy works wonders when it comes to clearing out pores and helping balance excess oil production. You’ll even see evidence of oil as it comes to the skin’s surface. Trying to help minimize the appearance of pores? This one is a great place to start!

Beautycounter's Counter+ Charcoal Mask

What Is It?

A clay mask with activated charcoal to absorb oil and gunk, and salicylic and lactic acids to help exfoliate from the inside out.

My Experience:

-I love using this before I start my skin prep for makeup– not my every day makeup routine, but the times when I’m getting ready for a night out or special occasion. It really helps give that smooth look so many of us strive for.

What You Oughta Know:

-Like most Beautycoutner products, this will last you a longgggg time. Especially if you are using it only on your t-zone once a week or so.
-If you tend to have very dry skin, I would avoid this product.
